Why not have a go at making these no-cook sweet treats at home. They’re fun to make and even better to eat, but you need a steady hand and a little bit of patience to get it right.
– 1 packet of square-shaped crackers
– icing sugar
– food colouring (optional)
– icing pens (optional)
– variety of small sweets
– sprinkles
– gummy bears
Put 2 tablespoons of icing sugar into a bowl and add a splash of warm water
Mix the two together to form a thick paste.
If you like, add a few drops of food colouring to your icing.
Take three crackers out of the packet and place one on a plate. This will form the base of your house.
Take the second cracker and dip one edge into the icing. Then take the third and dip two parallel edges into the icing.
Arrange them on the first cracker so they form a basic upturned V shape. You may have to do a little balancing here – this is where the steady hand and patience comes in.
Leave to dry. This is an important step. The icing needs to set to make the house strong enough to decorate. If you try to decorate them now they will collapse into a sticky mess. Trust us, we tried it!
Now for the really fun bit. Go mad with the decorations, sticking the sweeties on with icing and sprinkling as many sprinkles as you can. We used some cheap icing pens to create some zig-zag patterns but there is loads you can do with just a teaspoon.
Wait until they’ve set before you try to eat them. You’ll be surprised at how moreish these scrummy treats can be!
